Ellie

We had our newest foster dog with us during a trip to Home Depot today. I took her for a potty break and introduced her to a little girl, Ellie, and her mother in the parking lot. The meeting went very well and I thought Ellie would be a great name for her. So Ellie it is. Found as a stray by county animal control who suspected she was dumped. Good for me I say, she's adorable. She has fit in to this house of dogs just wonderfully.

June 3rd, 2001
Ellie is a joy to have here. Well socialized with good house manners. Very affectionate but not in a needy way. Rides in the car nicely too. Another one I would keep ;-)

June 4th, 2001 Jordan Ellie and I took a drive to Gresham to meet Dave, Kimberly and their beautiful young daughters. Well needless to say Ellie charmed them beyond belief. It will be a perfect home for Ellie. I'm sure we will see updates and the family has graciously offered to help me with transports and photographing Border Collies in the Portland area. I am very pleased to have them join the Shedd Rescue team!

Bud Update

Updates like the one below are the reward for saving just one more dog.
Thank you Kim and Chris for loving him so well.

Hi Vicki!
Buddy is doing so great. He's lost 6 pounds and is such a mama's boy. This is a picture of Buddy and Riley on Mother's Day. Bud even put on a tie for me. It fits his personality! I cannot believe how much I love this little man. He belongs with us.

I was looking back at his pictures when you first got him and looking at him now. He looks like a different dog to me. He is so active and healthy and his coat is shiny. Riley adores him. He is ball crazy. Every night after work we go to the school and throw balls for the dogs. Bud can jump. Also, last weekend he played all by himself with a soccer ball for a half hour. Pushing it around with his paws, his nose...chasing it. It was hilarious. We'll keep our updates coming.

Please let his former family know that he is healthy and happy and loves his new home.
Thank you again
Kim, Chris, Riley and Bud.

A Good Read

Working as a buyer for a pet supply store I often find items I like to share with others. This time it's a book. Barrie has a wonderful story telling manner. With in just a few sentences I was hooked. Do take a look at it. I happened to get my copy from Amazon, but I'd guess it's available many places. Let me know if you enjoy it.

From the archives-Ginger

After seeing Jordan I needed to go back and look at pictures of Ginger. We got her from Linn County animal control back in June 2004. Oh, how I loved her. She is a wonderful dog and was adopted to a family in Albany. She left a big void which has been filled and emptied many times since.

The camera loved her too. She would sleep lengthwise on my body when we took an afternoon nap. She was one of what I call my "heart" dogs--you barely had to give commands because she already knew what I wanted....

The camera loves Jordan

Look at this beautiful dog, I want to keep him for myself. But then I always say that. Jordan's a well traveled canine. Found in the Jordan Valley Oregon by a fellow rescuer, Kelly. Some kind gentlemen had been feeding him as a stray at their gas station. Kelly saw him a couple times and wisely loaded him up and took him home to Idaho. Then placed with a family in Portland where he just couldn't quite take the young children in the home. So to Shedd he came.

We are extremely glad to have Jordan even if it's only for a short time. He's fearful of the loud trains going by out front, but will stay outside with me after they are done whistling.
This dog is all about the BALL! He can beat every dog to catch it first. He is happiest fetching, drops it at your feet and waits. Very good in the house and with the pack. It's hard to know if he's a mix or not. If you haven't see a border collie colored like Jordan go to the Border Collie Museum listed my favorite site column. Australian Red is an unusual color Border Collies come in.
