This is all it takes

You happen in to your local dog control. Something draws you to the shaggy, dirty, canine with those "I will love you" eyes. Then your heart gets involved. So you plunk down some cash to save the dog from scheduled euthanasia. Off to the vet for a look see. Home for a good meal and a bath. You find you've brought home a gentle spirit, not an aggressive notion in his mind. Happy to love and be loved.

Believe it or not it does often happen this way. In fact I began doing rescue nearly the same way years ago.

The dog in this tale is named Enzo. He had to have neuter surgery and a little vet care, but is now on his way to living a much improved life. His saving angel "D" had never done anything like this before, but her heart couldn't let him stay there for certain death. It's one dog, a vet bill, and some valuable time, but the reward is so great. The plan is to pass Enzo on to his forever family. That will be "D"'s definition of bittersweet.

You will find Enzo, an older Aussie mix, currently posted on PNWBC Rescue.

Little one needs a home

This little female is available at Linn County Dog Control. This morning she was one of four dogs I drove to Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene. This timid fearful lady just wouldn't come out of the crate. Not wanting to force her into a possible bite situation and sensing that kennel time with lots of different caregivers would not be the best for her she was to be returned to Albany. While we finished up paperwork on the three that were to stay and with the help of yummy treats I got her onto my lap. She was my best friend by the time we got back to Linn. They guess her to be 5 years old. Please if you'd like to have a cuddly lap warmer contact them or drop me an email. Needless to say this little sweetie is tugging at my heart....

UPDATE: This little dear has gone home with an older lady to keep her lap warm ;-) I'm so happy!
