Fiona part 2

Tess and Fiona playing king of the hill. She's so round and full of puppy.

Big mean dog goin' to take my thumb off! She gets little bursts of energy and become the silliest little dog.

We've been to the vet for an x-ray. It shows one BIG puppy inside. Vet said Fiona will give birth in the next 10 days. So many have expressed interest in adopting her or a pup I could place a dozen. I have felt the pup kick my hand! I haven't dealt with puppy birth before so I'm nervous about missing signs of distress. We may have to rush to the vet asap if she needs surgery. Cross your paws for her.

I have suspicions Fiona may become a foster failure. What's that you say? It's when you fail to force yourself to part with a foster dog. We shall see.

Need a new name for Tommy

Tommy is the latest addition here at Shedd. Would love to give this new boy a new name. Any ideas?

Likely a Border Collie mix with a short easy care coat and amusingly curled tail he would be a great first foster dog if you'd care to try. Or if you'd love to take him home to raise as a perfect companion he's ready to go. Well socialized and ready for obedience classes. He doesn't seem interested in the cats and has been gentle with Fiona.

This is Brodie's puppy picture. He is Eddie's and Betty Betty's brother.

He came for an overnight stay this weekend. Notice the white cross on his chest? As a foster pup we had named him Pope.

It was wonderful to see him. John and Iris his owners have given him a wonderful home.

Brodie on the left Betty Betty on the right. Handsome siblings now three years old.

Her Buddies

Louis took this shot and named it "her buddies". Even though I'm in it I couldn't resist sharing what it's like at our house. Where ever I go they are sure to follow. Erin, Fiona, Bud, Bonzie and Betty Betty in the foreground with Tess is closest to the house. Nice group of dogs don't you think? I sure do.

Fiona--20 days--part 1

Little Fiona, resting behind my head as watch TV, went for her first vet visit today. They kindly did an ultra sound for us showing at least one puppy! Will return in 3 weeks for an X-ray to verify how many pups there are. I shouldn't be so excited but it's been 30+years since I've had newborn pups.

Linn County--Nikki

Nikki looks to be well fed at least, just not wanted anymore. A house dog good with kids and other animals. Nikki needs foster space or a new family asap. She is a spayed 5 year old.
You can find more information on the Linn County site listed my "favorite dog sites".

Recent news of Fleck and Ruby

Fleck, a Catahoula, lives in Albany, OR. If you look in the older posts (January) on my blog you can read about the exciting way Fleck came to to be in Shedd.

Thank you Stephanie for giving Fleck a wonderful forever home!

Ruby's history with Shedd Rescue can be found in October of '09. One lucky dog, she gets to go to work with her owner Aaron. And lucky for me too as I get to see her ofter as they visit my place of employment.

Thank you both for keeping in touch and sharing these photos. And too, for loving a "rescued" canine!

Just fun photos

It was finally dry enough to mow.
See Flurry focused and waiting for the toss? What a dog.

What's this? Fiona!

I know it's not a Border Collie, but when I was asked to foster this little pregnant lass I couldn't say no. Chi-terrier-maltese mix was one of three owner surrenders at Linn County. The likely father(s) of her pups are at there ready for adoption. I had hinted I needed a puppy fix little did I know it would be born here. Hoping to keep you
up to date on their arrival etc. Fiona walks under Jordan with out touching, so cute.
