Sheep on our little farm

Tasha a local sheep farmer kindly loaned us six ewes to eat down the front half acre. The grass is so tall and thick we would never get a mower through it. These girls are freshly sheared and drying up after lambing. They have been observing the neighborhood cautiously while starting on the job of "mowing" our lawn.

This weekend you can see Border Collies doing what they were bred for at the Scio Sheepdog Trials.

In Corvallis you can watch Doggie Freestyle at Benton County Fairgrounds. http://dogsgonedancin.com/freestyle-in-the-pacific-northwest/competitions/wild-west-unleashed

I think there is also some agility happening too.

Can't have too much Border Collie fun. See you there.

Blue Merle in Baker City

Contact the PNW Border Collie site for more information about this dog.

This is the Blue Merle that we rescued from the rest area outside of Baker City.  I have fostered him for two weeks and have been calling him "Boy".  My husband started calling him Roy and he now responds very well to that name.

Roy is about 5 years old, and is very healthy.  We just had him neutered and vaccinated.  Roy has impeccable house manners and knows his commands.  He is well behaved in and out of the house.  He is house trained and uses a doggie door.  He has never marked in the house even though I have two female dogs in the house.  He is so good in the house that I have been able to leave him for a couple hours at a time and he has not bothered anything.  He prefers to lie and look out the front room window and watch the world go by.

He is not a barker except when someone knocks on the front door.  He is not aggressive and very friendly when people come in to meet and visit with him.  He does talk to his people. He barks when he is happy, wants to play fetch with the ball or frisbee or be fed.  If see someone pick up a coat, car keys, or the leash, he gets real excited and is learning to calm down.I think that he was a truck dog as he gets real excited when big trucks or noisy pickups come by the house.  He rides very well in a car.  Roy has bonded closely with me and I think that he belonged to a woman. He follows me everywhere for fear he will be left again.

From what I have learned and observed, I think that Roy Rogers would do best in a family with children and be the only dog.  I know that he will make some family a wonderful pet and companion.  We desperately need to find a home for him so that I can take in another foster dog.  We have so many foreclosure dogs here in Baker City and we are having to pay to board them. If you know of anyone who would like this handsome, wonderful dog or you can help us, we would be very grateful.
