Ali and Addy update

With nine canines in the house and a busy work schedule, blog time is low on the "to do" list.

Ali is being spayed this morning and I have several applications working for her. She is such a happy bouncy youngster, she will heal fast.
October 2nd, Ali has found a wonderful home in Powell Butte OR.

Addy will go in for his neuter surgery on Friday. I noticed this morning that he is just now becoming settled enough to start playing with toys. Maybe he's decided it's really okay here. He still keeps an eye on his girl Ali, always knowing where she is.

I always warn/instruct new adopters that the dog you know in the first couple days will be so different in a week or two or three. Some times the companion that emerges is better sometimes not. For those who aren't familiar with adopting from a rescue most use a contract stating the dog will be returned to the adopting rescue for what ever reason during the life of the dog. It doesn't happen often. That is why we take the time to interview and do a home visit so we can place a dog in a home that fits the individual dog best. Patience from canines and humans both help to make "forever" placements.

Fleck will be joining the pack at Shedd as soon as transport is arranged. We felt a change in venue might lead him to the perfect family to love him.

This adorable little pup is a male Catahoula mix about 5 months old. He was dumped with his littermates in the mountains outside of Horseshoe Bend Idaho. A couple of fishermen watched a blue car drive up and park not too far from where they were fishing, dump a bag of puppy food on the ground, dump these three beautiful little puppies out and drive off. Talk about a loving home. The funny thing is that these three little sweeties are very social and love people and you would think they had a decent home in the beginning of their little lives. His siblings have been adopted and he's just tapping his foot waiting for that right home for him too. He is a wonderful little guy, very playful, loves the other dogs and ignores the cats - unless they run. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go. He's such a happy little guy and would make a wonderful addition to someone looking for a companion to take places and do things with.

Ali & Addy

Talk about a good day for a dog, freed from animal control, a run in the big yard, then a bath and dinner. Well maybe the bath wasn't so much fun, but they sure smell better. Ali is young as she still has her baby teeth. She is a cutie with one ear up one ear down. She's not house broke so we'll work on that. Addy is older maybe a year plus. He's a handsome, affectionate, wanna be lap dog. Both seem well socialized with dogs and people. I'll assess them for a week or so before posting them on petfinder.com.

Empty spot in the heart times three

Red Ted and Freddy went home with their new families after being neutered this morning. Both came through their surgery well and had started to play by late afternoon. Kally will travel to Eugene to live with her new humans on Saturday. They even have a Pug pal for her to play with.

I posted all three pups on petfinder.com Sept 7th. By this evening I had received 20 inquires for them. So a lot of folks were disappointed I'm sure. For that I'm sorry. I wish all dog searchers good luck. And I wish long, healthy, happy lives for the pups in their new homes.

Two At Animal Control

I just quickly took a look at these two Border Collies picked up as strays. The mostly white one in a male the other is female. They are guessing 6 months old.
We have foster space for them so they will be sprung tomorrow. Not the greatest picture, but they certainly look all BC to me in real life.

Puppy Siesta

Not a sound stirs these little ones.

They have grown so much in the week they have been here.

Needless to say I try to nap when they do.

Can't have too many Teddy and Freddy pictures!

Oh these two little pups have made the days so enjoyable.

Even though I've had to clean up little puddles and piles.

They have come to work with me and totally stolen everyones heart with their puppy cuteness.

I have posted them to the Shedd Rescue petfinder.com site. Secretly hoping applicants get lost in cyberspace. Just teasing.

Red Teddie and Freddie

Needless to say these little ones are using up all my time. Pups take a lot of lovin' you know!
Will tell you more soon.

Kally Kahlotus

Kally found wandering on the Kahlotus highway in WA is a lovely young very well socialized female. She met the pack with the skill of a mature dog. She's currently laying at my feet. Very interesting markings for a border collie so likely a mix. She's learning the routine here quickly. Kally plays with boundless energy. When away from the pack she settles down nicely and walks well on leash. I would guess she was well cared for before coming into rescue.
