What to do on a fall afternoon

Eddie is a fetching fool. He will go till I give up tossing. Ed is so devoted to the game he will put the item to toss right in your hand. When that doesn't work he tosses it as you as these photos show. For a dog with bad hips he rarely shows discomfort. I keep watch on how much activity he gets a day so he doesn't over due. He takes supplements to help his joints and I keep pain meds on hand if he shows discomfort. Eddie is available for adoption. Not likely to happen though as most folks want a Border Collie to hike and bike with. A home for Eddie would need to be understanding dog owners willing to spend the little extra for his pills. His prognosis with guidance from a vet could be years of pain free companionship by just restricting excessive repetitive movements. It's a lot to ask of adoptees, but Eddie is worth it.

Rueben has been adopted

Some foster dogs become more dear to the heart than others. It may be their personality, looks, behaviors or just the crappy beginning their lives had. They envelope your heart in mere moments. You fall so madly in love with them you can't wait to get back home to receive their barks and wiggles.

Well Rueben was one of those dogs for me. His excitement when I came home was unmeasurable. He slept with me every night and was rarely out of my sight. It often felt like he read my mind. Knowing how hard it would be to evaluate applications and actually part with him a dear fellow rescuer offered to do the deed for me.

Christine generously took over the duty of finding Rueben a loving forever home by taking him to foster in Portland. She sent updates and photos, like the one above, letting me know what a great little dog he is. It was very insightful to see Rueben through someone else's eyes.

So now Rueben has a new home in Washington with a doting couple who will take him everywhere and do everything together. What more could a devoted canine ask for.

A big thank you to Christine. It might be that Rueben left a little hole in her heart too!

Happy days Rueben.

Erin aka the Princess

Erin is part of the family. She has so much personality, bounce and energy that we call her the Princess when we talk about her.

She's a happy toy lovin' dog.

She can even give a back rub!

Fleck is ready for his forever home

Any takers on this beautiful loving canine?

What an amazing dog Fleck is. He came to work with me, meeting every dog that came shopping with a play bow. He was good with little kids and gave the store cats all the room they needed. I don't know that I've had a foster dog do as well as he did. No issues of any kind.
We took some great new pictures, enjoy.

Ruby's new home

Ruby gets to spend her days helping her new owner work as a wild bird biologist. What more could a border collie wish for. Many hours with her humans and the great outdoors. Perfect placement.

Addy found a home

Addy is being adopted by a local vet student and her husband. Being doted on by two caring humans is just what he deserves, walks at the park nearby and lots of attention. Addy showed Ruby the ropes before he left.

Ruby because she's a gem!

Look at this beauty. Sprang from Linn County Animal Control on Thursday. Home for a de-flea bath, dinner and meeting the pack made a full day for Ruby. She looks enough like Rueben to be her sister, hence the name Ruby. She still has baby teeth and moves like a youngster a bit unsure of herself. She met the pack with ease, no accidents in the house and sleeps quietly in her crate. Sounds like another one that will be hard to part with....

Fleck and the Full Pack at Play

How many dogs can you see?

Fleck the Catahoula

The story of how Fleck came into rescue in Idaho is told in a previous post. Being dumped like trash hasn't damaged this big boy in any way. Check out the link for more info on his breed.

Fleck is a big silly pup. Happy, cuddly, and curious. Enjoy these fine pictures of Fleck taken by someone who knows how to use the damn camera!

Flying Fleck

Pilot N Paws generously donated flying Fleck from Boise Idaho to Troutdale Oregon. Wow how many dogs get to fly in the seat of a little plane? I met them at the airport and attempted to take some pictures.

These photos give you some idea why my husband, Louis, takes ALL the pictures.

Fleck arrived safe and sound ready for the drive to Shedd.
