They are so shiny and soft after their holiday baths. Had to add pictures of the Libby and Fiona the "dirty" little doggies too ;-) Thanks Sue at Doggy Styles here in Shedd. They're beautiful.

Fostering Break

Since bring the terriers into our lives last year we haven't fostered many Border Collies ourselves. Libby is so small we don't want to risk harm to her. Also our senior dogs, Bonzie and Bud, don't enjoy the company of canine guests like they once did. At some point in the future we"ll likely have fosters here again. For now we will continue to help place BCs using fellow rescuer help and rescue websites.

How embarrassing to have the whole wide web know how much you weigh. Plus having a bad hair day just awful just awful. ;-)

Ruby's summer fun

Aaron shares summer travels with his best friend Ruby, a Shedd Rescue adoptee. Great looking float coat too. Thank you Aaron.

 

Fishing with me on the ocean is definitely not one of here favorite activities but it wasn’t too rough so I brought her along.  

Swimming after tennis balls, however, is the bees knees as far as Ruby is concerned. (picture from a recent vacation on upper Klamath Lake) 

And there are nine sheep on the farm

 We came home after going out for a bite to eat to find the ewe we'd been calling "Pink Butt" cleaning off a tiny little lamb. A girl, it took her a while to get the strength to stand up but she finally made it.

 Mom continued to have contractions. The neighbors all gathered to watch the show. She constantly cooed to her babe the whole time.

"Pink Butt" was nick-named that because she had a very pink rear end when she arrived back in June. She is the most tame of all the ewes coming up for pets and treats anytime we are near the fence or in the yard.

Within a short time I saw a nose peek out and the second lamb came into the world. A boy quite a bit bigger. He was up and standing much quicker than the girl.

 See the little black spot on the orange tinted lamb? She kept coming to me so I'd turn her around and shove her back to mom. I backed away not wanting to confuse her.

This morning they are much more clean and dry. Still wobbly, but have found where the food comes from...

 Isn't that the cutest little face with those darling black spots on his nose.

 This is the new girl with one of the twin boys born on July 19th.

  

 The older lambs are very interested in the newest additions to the field.

Our flock has grown to 9 now and the ewe named double wide still hasn't popped. That will be a big event I'm sure. Could be three or four in her!

We have nicknamed the ewe above "double wide" what do you think?

Every morning we go out to check for new little lambs. Three ewes are PG from what we can tell.

Enzo update

You can find more about Enzo in earlier blog entries. A most precious senior dog saved from certain death in the local pound by wonderful couple in Winston Oregon. As they live and love Enzo they are still finding things he apparently knows how to do! Wishing many more happy healthy years to Enzo and his humans.
