You happen in to your local dog control. Something draws you to the shaggy, dirty, canine with those "I will love you" eyes. Then your heart gets involved. So you plunk down some cash to save the dog from scheduled euthanasia. Off to the vet for a look see. Home for a good meal and a bath. You find you've brought home a gentle spirit, not an aggressive notion in his mind. Happy to love and be loved.
Believe it or not it does often happen this way. In fact I began doing rescue nearly the same way years ago.
The dog in this tale is named Enzo. He had to have neuter surgery and a little vet care, but is now on his way to living a much improved life. His saving angel "D" had never done anything like this before, but her heart couldn't let him stay there for certain death. It's one dog, a vet bill, and some valuable time, but the reward is so great. The plan is to pass Enzo on to his forever family. That will be "D"'s definition of bittersweet.
You will find Enzo, an older Aussie mix, currently posted on PNWBC Rescue.
